Greenham: One Hundred Years of War and Peace was a large-scale outdoor event celebrating 20 years of the Greenham Trust and produced by Rosa Productions

In September 2017 Greenham Common’s long history came alive through an extensive spectacle of performance, songs, light projections and live art.

Funded by Greenham Trust, Arts Council England, Corn Exchange and The Watermill.

It marked the 20th anniversary of the Greenham Trust which has distributed over £35 million to local good causes since 1997.

DANCE OF THE DOMESTIC SERVANTS.

Using our trademark participatory approach to making dance, both professionals and community dancers collectively created two amazing segments for the show under the guidance of our Artistic Director, John Darvell.

To fully immerse the visiting public in the event, we unveiled short dance sequences that played around the grounds prior to the main event. Then, we staged an 8-minute standalone dance performance of what life was like for domestic servants in Greenham back in the day. The main live performance also contained a condensed sequence of our piece to bring it all together.

NOCTURN, recognised for its work within the Newbury area, was commissioned by Rosa Productions to bring together local adult community dancers. We set about creating this outdoor work using all of our resources, from our ILLUMÉ adult performers to dance class regulars and new adult dancers who answered a general call-out about the project.

Over a short period of scripted rehearsals, we resurrected a typical 1920s Greenham Village scene - ‘The Baxendale family and its servants’.
