Born during challenging times, The Riddle was our creative response to reconnect minds and bodies with the world beyond the screen. At its heart is Pæn, a mythical figure who leads you on a bespoke outdoor dance trail — each step an invitation to explore mental health, embrace playful education, and rediscover the joy of movement.
This self-guided experience blends puzzles, movement, and education in a fun, immersive way. Participants use QR technology on their mobile devices to reveal entertaining short films, making every interaction a unique part of the journey.
Having resonated with audiences at UK festivals and making an impression internationally at FITS, The Riddle now looks towards new horizons — particularly within Scotland’s vibrant landscape.

HOW TO PLAY.
Smartphones or tablets can be used to hunt down mapped out QR codes on posters along the trail.
Each QR code will then reveal a specific clue.
Each solved clue plays a film clip on the smart device commenting on digital technology along with instructions to create one of the movement sections.
SELF GUIDED DURATIONAL OUTDOOR INSTALLATION.
Available for a day, weekend, or the entire festival duration.
Approximate running time 90 minutes.
