ADULT COMMUNITY DANCE COMPANY.

Established in 2010, ILLUMÉ—NOCTURN’s adult community dance company—has built a stellar reputation for creating and delivering high‑quality, thought‑provoking performances.

Under John Darvell’s supportive leadership, our membership has spanned enthusiastic adults of all ages—particularly those aged 50 and over—who test themselves and one another to craft works of genuine artistic excellence.

Now that we’ve relocated north, ILLUMÉ is in transition as we search for and build our new home in Scotland.

NOCTURN has always believed in the transformative power of adult dance and in giving every adult the chance to express their creativity.

That vision brought ILLUMÉ to life — and, even as most of our members maintain daytime careers outside the arts, their personal stories and life‑experiences remain the heart of everything we make. As we set up our new chapter in Scotland, we’re excited to carry that same spirit forward.

As a member of ILLUMÉ, you can draw upon your rich life experience to create demanding dance pieces. Creative talent is nurtured and channelled.

You will find rehearsals challenging and rewarding, experience making solo dance material, partnering to create duets and building group pieces, bringing it all together as one harmonious dance performance.
